AXILLARY NERVE ANATOMY
Axillary Nerve | Axillary Nerve Course, Branches, Muscle Supply, Test & Palsy
Axillary Nerve is also called Circumflex Nerve. Axillary Nerve run around surgical neck of humerus.
ROOT VALUE OF AXILLARY NERVE :-
=> Root value of Axillary Nerve Is C5, C6 segment of spinal cord.
COURSE OF AXILLARY NERVE :-
=> Axillary Nerve is terminal branch of posterior cord of the brachial plexus.
=> Axillary Nerve pass backword through quadringular space
=> Axillary Nerve is divided in two division anterior and posterior at behind surgical neck of humerus
BRANCHES OF AXILLARY NERVE :-
=> Muscular branches : supply to the Deltoid and Teres minor
=> Cutaneous branches : supply to the of skin over inferior portion of the shoulder
=> Articular branch : supply to Shoulder joint
AXILLARY NERVE SUPPLY :
=> Motor supply of Axillary Nerve is only two muscle Deltoid and Teres minor
=> Pseudoganglion present between supply suuply of Teres Minor muscle.
=> Sensory supply by Upper lateral cutaneous nerve to skin over inferior portion of the shoulder
AXILLARY NERVE INJURY / AXILLARY NERVE PALSY :-
=> Injury to the Axillary Nerve loss motor function & paralysis of Deltoid and Teres minor muscle. also loss of sensory part (skin over inferior portion of shoulder)
=> Mainly Abduction are loss on affected side due to parlysis of the deltoid muscle.
